MORPHINE
i was lying in your arms like in great pain
while getting a syringe from someone
i don’t remember where on the body
cos i was feeling absent or
i just knew the progress
cos i had seen it on the news
i was just counting my number of age out loud
as i was told until i felt words failing
people stared at me and
i could identify unlabelled body parts
as the morphine rose into the heart
cos i’m not a hospital
